Our Farm

Venter Boerdery is located in the Sundays River Valley in the Eastern Cape, near the village of Addo.

Venter Boerdery (PTY) Ltd is a family business that consists of the founder, Boeram Venter and his two sons, Nico and Leroux. He met his wife Elsa le Roux, in Pretoria and married in 1981. Two sons were born of the marriage - Nico (1983) and Leroux (1986).

In 2006, Venter Boerdery began diversifying and it currently consists of Citrus, Broilers, Bonsmara Stud, Boer Goat Stud, Tourism and Game Farm. Planning is already in an advanced stage to establish a fertilizer plant using chicken manure as the main source. Venter Boerdery consists of the following sites: Two Step, Disco, Trenley, Hopefield, Hard Rock, Tango, Insomi, Foxtrot, BuckKraal, Kuduskloof and Middeldrif.

In 2003 Venter Farming handed over the farm "Peperlaan" for the empowerment to 23 of its workers, who currently run the farm effectively under the mentorship of Boeram Venter.

Sitrus

The Sundays River Valley is citrus paradise with its cool temperate climate. The valley produces 20% of South Africa 's exports of citrus and supplies citrus to more than 50 countries . The Citrus farm consists of an area of 1200 hectares

Disco Chicks comprises two broiler farms consisting of 12 climate controlled (isolated) houses each. Each house covering 1800m2 in extent. Development of chicks to chickens for slaughter takes 35 days .

Disco Bonsmara stud was registered in 2007. Top genetics were acquired by buying breeding cows, "Golden oldies", from established herds namely Zinabos (Fourie Scheepers), Rutland (Keith Thompson), Hanzyl (Gerrit van Zyl) and Dikdoorns (Chris Welman) .

Game is kept at the following farms: Hopefield, Hard Rock and Tango. Financially they make a small contribution to Venter Boerdery.

Meet the Venters

Boeram Venter

Venter Boerdery (PTY) Ltd is a family business, which consists of the founder Boeram Venter and his two sons Nico and Leroux.

Boeram was born in 1956 and Matriculated in 1974 after which he obtained a degree in B Pharm at the University of Potchefstroom (PUK). He met his wife Elsa le Roux in Pretoria and married in 1981. They have two sons Nico and Leroux.

Boeram and Elsa settled in Kirkwood in 1982 where he practiced as a pharmacist (50 % share in Kirkwood Pharmacy). During this time he also managed the 30 hectare (20 hectares planted with citrus) family farm. In 1986 he settled as a full-time Citrus farmer.

Nico joined the farm in 2010, after he graduated with a B Com Honours degree in Business Management from the University of Potchefstroom.

Leroux joined the farm in 2011, after graduating with a B Com Degree in Chartered Marketing from the the University of Potchefstroom.
